Principles of Family Mediation
At Antworks Family Mediation we are proud to comply with the Family Mediation Council’s ethical framework for Mediators. Our practice is anchored by four core principles of Family Mediation.
- Voluntary Participation: Attending mediation is entirely optional, and you can pause or stop the process at any time. No decisions can be forced upon you.
- Mediator Impartiality: The mediator is a neutral third party. They do not take sides, judge who is right or wrong, or give personal legal advice, but rather facilitate constructive communication.
- Confidentiality: Discussions and proposals within mediation are private. If an agreement is not reached, the court will generally never be told what was discussed. Exceptions only apply if there is a risk of harm to a child or vulnerable adult.
- Participant-Led Decision Making: You and your ex-partner remain in total control of the outcome. The mediator does not make decisions; they help you craft solutions that work for your specific family
