I grew up in Hebden Bridge in the Calder Valley and returned to nearby Todmorden in 2000.

My Background
While raising three children, I developed my skills as a facilitator and mediator working with people and communities across West Yorkshire and East Lancashire to make change happen; bringing people together, contributing to academic research, and challenging public policy. In 2017, Dundee University awarded me an honorary doctorate of laws in recognition of this community work.
When my Mum died a little while ago, I found she’d kept the papers from her own divorce in 1973. It made me think about how much impact messy divorces have had on people in our family, and that’s what led me to train as a family mediator. Family mediation builds on the negotiation and facilitation skills I developed over 20 years of community work, taking them deeper into the context of family relationships.
I’m an associate member of the Family Mediation Association and registered with the Family Mediation Council, and I’m committed to bringing my experience into every family mediation session I run in person in Todmorden, Calder Valley, or online.
Our families are the building blocks of our lives. They don’t stop being important, especially for children, when a relationship breaks down. Whatever your family looks like now, I’m here to help you make the decisions that form a solid foundation for what comes next.
